J. Wippell & Co Ltd is an 18th century firm which was founded in Exeter in 1789 as an ecclesiastical furnishings and metal craft business. They built up a good reputation for producing brass lecterns, eagle stands, altar crosses and vases, brass candlesticks and candle stands. They also provided a service for custom made metalwork and church fittings. The firm expanded with showrooms in London and they supplied cathedrals and churches worldwide. Today the firm operates from 7 Tufton Street, London, SW1P 3QE.
